Objective: This research aims to explore the influence of backpacks on the muscle activity of trunk muscle of youth and to put forward a desirable method of wearing backpacks.
Method: To compare trunk muscle before and after, a paired t-test was used. To compare the differences between groups, one-way ANOVA was used. LSD was used for final analysis.
Results: Muscle activity of treadmill walking showed a significant difference(p<.05) in cervical erector spinae, upper trapezious for the no belt group. LSD showed that muscle activity decreased significantly(p<.05) in cervical erector spinae and upper trapezious when lumbar belt and lumbar-chest belt was worn. In the case of ascent stair walking, cervical erector spinae and upper trapezious showed a significant difference(p<.05) in all groups. In the case of descent stair walking, muscle activity showed a significant difference(p<.05) in cervical erector spinae, upper trapezious, and rectus abdominis for all groups. L SD showed that muscle activity in trunk muscle decreased significantly(p<.05) when the lumbar-chest belt was worn.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that when a belt is worn, the muscle activity of trunk muscle decreases.
